Letters by Conductors
The friendly relationships to, and teamwork with first class conductors can clearly be heard (also for the audience) in the high quality of music productions.
Representing the innumerable letters, to the Concert Association of the Vienna State Opera Chorus, these twelve thanks -, as well as congratulations-letters, testify of the good cooperation with famous conductors:
Personalities that show particular commitment are awarded prizes by the Concert Association since 1977 in form of the "Clemens Krauss Medal" in Gold, Silver and Bronze.
In 1995 Ioan Holender (photo), the director of the Vienna State Opera, was awarded the Silver Medal.

Marcello Viotti
In November 2002, the Concert Association celebrated it's 75th anniversary with a concert in the Vienna State Opera. Marcello Viotti, who have always had an affection for the choir, spontaneously agreed to conduct this benefit gala.
On February 16, 2005, the 50-year old maestro died completely unexpectedly in Munich. The Concert Association has lost a wonderful conductor and artist, but also a friend and colleague that all choir members loved and appreciated. Marcello Viottis death is an irreplaceable loss not only for the Vienna State Opera choir but for the entire music world, who never forgotten him.

Things to laugh at
For "his" choir, Otto Schenk took time, came into the rehearsalroom and read his famous theater and opera anecdotes, also known under the title SACHEN ZUM LACHEN (Things to laugh at).
Just as spontaneously, he volunteered to write the introduction to the anecdote book UND WAS MACHEN SIE HAUPTBERUFLICH? (So what do you really do for a living?), that was published for the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Concert Association.
Here you can see some video- and newspaperclips of the chorus aswell as two anecdotes:
